Luc Anselin and Xun Li Attend Inauguration of Geocomputation Center for Social Sciences at Wuhan University
On January 13, 2018, Luc Anselin participated in the formal inauguration of the new Geocomputation Center for Social Sciences at Wuhan University, established as a collaborative venture between the State Key Laboratory of Information Engineering in Surveying, Mapping and Remote Sensing (LIESMARS) at Wuhan University, the Spatial Data Center & China Data Center at the University of Michigan, and the Center for Spatial Data Science at the University of Chicago. The center will pursue joint research and scholarly exchange in the fields of geocomputation and spatial data science. Luc Anselin also presented a keynote address on “Spatial Data Science in a CyberGIS Era” at the Fifth Workshop on Spatial Information Intelligence Service, which coincided with the inauguration ceremony. The workshop was attended by more than 350 scholars from all over China.
On January 12, 2018, Luc Anselin and Xun Li, Assistant Director for Data Science of CSDS met with a group of Wuhan University scholars to discuss future research and collaborative initiatives. Luc Anselin also had a meeting with Dr. Prof. Dou Xiankang, President of Wuhan University. On January 14, Xun Li made a presentation on “GeoDa – An Introduction to Spatial Data Analysis” at the First Meeting of the Teaching Steering Committee of the Center of National Experimental Teaching of Economics and Management at Wuhan University.
