Jointly with with the Metropolitan Planning Council (MPC) and the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH), Marynia Kolak of University of Chicago's Center for Spatial Data Science recently received a grant from the Build Healthy Places Network. The award seeks to quantify the benefits of investments in community development. The team will develop a framework for projecting cost savings and societal benefits associated with broad-based community development initiatives. This will be accomplished by joining research, theory, and real-world applications to aggregate and quantify the impacts of community development in ways meaningful to potential investors.
